Every two (2) minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer.
There are over two million (2,000,000) women living in America with breast cancer and
approximately one (1) in every eight (8) women will develop breast cancer within their
lifetime. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer has now become the
most frequently diagnosed cancer in women.

The NBCF Mission “is to save lives by increasing awareness of breast cancer through
education and by providing mammograms for those in need”. The NBCF provided
more than 22,000 free mammograms for underinsured women in America in 2006, and
the Foundation also supports cancer research, primarily through a relationship with the University of Texas
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and research programs at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH.

Unfortunately, nearly every American household has been affected by cancer and similar to most families, Security
Equipment Corporation (SEC), a family owned and operated business, has had several members diagnosed with
cancer. SEC’s President and founder, Larry D. Nance, has been a patient of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Fully
realizing the seriousness of this disease, SEC was pleased to learn about the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s
(NBCF) efforts to fight breast cancer and support cancer research. SEC is proud to announce it has joined the NBCF
in the fight against breast cancer.

Beginning January 1, 2008, SEC will make a donation to the NBCF on the sale of each
SABRE RED, Pink, Key Chainpepper spray (HC-NBCF-01). SEC’s compact and most popular key chain pepper spray is equipped with a quick
release key ring and deploys up to 25 shots at a 10 foot range. David Nance, SEC Vice President, said, “We are very
happy and proud to support the NBCF and its fight against breast cancer. Fortunately, the NBCF chose our most
practical and popular SABRE product which maximizes SEC’s ability to support this excellent charity and cause”.

This partnership enables consumers throughout the United States to support an excellent charity while equipping
themselves or a loved one with the increased safety provided by SABRE RED pepper spray. Look for the new pink
packaging shown above at one of thousands of retailers within the US beginning in 2008 and join the fight against
both cancer and crime.

Since 1975, Security Equipment Corporation has produced the most effective line of defense spray products.
Branded as SABRE, SABRE RED and FRONTIERSMAN, customers are offered the finest defense spray possible with
one thought in mind: When a life is at stake, our products must be effective.

1. Be Alert!
Keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings. Criminals look for individuals that are not paying attention and that they can sneak up on easily and take by surprise.  By staying alert you also give yourself more time to react if someone does approach.

2. Vary Your Routines
Predictability makes you a more likely target. Drive or walk different ways to work.

3. Lock It!
Home, car, office - locks are your first line of defense. Think about putting up signs that show your have a security system.  Criminals are looking for an easy hit, they may pass you buy if they think an alarm will sound.

4. Make Your Home A Tough Target
Use floodlights, motion sensors, a security system, deadbolts, Security signs, etc.

5. Foil Car-jackers
Keep windows/doors locked, check mirrors and blind spot when stopped. Stay one to one and a half lengths away from the car ahead of you. Sound your horn and flash your lights if you think you’re being approached by a car-jacker. Keep a self defense spray handy and available, like on your visor (out of the sun).

6. Avoid Car Theft
Lock it!
Use an anti-theft device.
Turn the wheels when you park.
Never leave a spare key inside the car.
Park in a well-lighted place.
Keep all valuables out of site.
Put packages in the trunk.

7. Be Creative
Think of unusual ways to protect yourself and your valuables. A personal motion alarm is great to add to your bags or bikes.

8. Be Informed
Learn the crime trends in your area and work to protect yourself against them. You can find most of these in the local newspaper or on your counties web-sites.

9. Get Involved
Have your joined or organized a Neighborhood Watch? Most criminals will try to “scout out” their intended neighborhood.  Alert neighbors will almost always see them and “shoo” them away or call the Police.

10. Don’t Give Up!
Crime can be reduced - with action, not apathy!

RCMP Uses Stun GiunRCMP use stun gun on man wielding knife in police HQ

Court orders psychiatric assessment

A Moncton, N.B., man who the RCMP say confronted officers with a knife at police headquarters has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric assessment.Jean-Guy Cormier appeared in a Moncton court Friday following the incident that saw him stunned with a Taser, police said, after a man lunged at a retired officer with a knifeCormier is facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.A man entered the downtown Moncton headquarters on Thursday afternoon and was speaking with the retired officer, who is now a civilian employee, at the front desk when he pulled out the knife and lunged at the individual, Const. Chantal Farrah said. The employee dodged the jab and called for help, whereupon about six police officers entered the lobby where the incident was occurring, Farrah said.”The man was in the lobby and he was waving a knife. He was yelling to police officers. He wanted them to shoot him,” she said. The man refused to drop the weapon, Farrah said. After two people walked into the lobby unaware of what was occurring there, a Taser stun gun was used to subdue the man so he could be taken into custody, she said.”This is a good example where appropriate utilization of the conducted energy weapon resulted in bringing a dangerous situation under control,” Farrah said.Paramedics onsite checked Cormier after the electrical shock as a precautionary measure, she said. He was later transported to hospital for treatment unrelated to the stun gun shock. The court heard Cormier remained agitated after his arrest and also allegedly assaulted a female employee at the hospital before being restrained. The judge ordered Cormier to undergo a five-day psychiatric assessment before appearing again in court next Friday.

More Uses for Pepper Spray

BearPepper spray and pepper spray products are remarkably useful for a full range of purposes.  Whether you’re looking for self-defense or a way to ensure your safety while engaging in outdoor exercise, pepper spray is an excellent product.  There are many tales of endurance athletes encountering dangerous animals in the wilderness.  One goes so far as to say that during a very long foot race through one of the western states a runner was attacked and killed by a mountain lion!Oh, if only he had pepper spray!  Light weight and convenient, it never ceases to amaze me that something that costs less than fifteen dollars can save your life.  For bear hunters or just hunters in general you never know when you might encounter a defiant or highly-territorial animal and with a can of pepper spray you can deliver a non-lethal dose to an attacking animal.  Useful stuff in so many cases!
